How to lobby the UN

Tuesday 26 October, 5:30pm – 8pm

The United Nations Human Rights Treaty System offers some opportunities for grassroots lobbying. One of these is the process of shadow reporting, in which civil society groups can report on their government’s human rights record.

This FREE evening session looks at how the shadow reporting system works, and how we can use it to bring pressure on governments to improve human rights, particularly in situations of war and conflict.

Guest speaker Dr Caroline Lambert is Executive Director of the YWCA Australia. She has 15 years experience in community-level lobbying at the UN and in making UN conventions work at a grassroots level.

Venue: Mezzanine, Ross House, 247 Flinders Lane
