Grant Writing Workshop a Success!

Humanitarian Crisis Hub | Workshop Series | Grant Writing | August 13 2011

On the 13th of August 2011 the Humanitarian Crisis Hub organised a workshop on “Grant Writing” as part of its Workshop Series.  The workshop was enthusiastically attended by 11 people from various community based organisations and members of theDarfur, Bhutanese, Karen and South Sudanese communities.

Facilitated by Melissa Philips fromMelbourneUniversitywith guest speaker David Orbach from Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre, the workshop successfully delivered basic grant writing and application skills. Melissa explained the common mistakes and pitfalls facing organisations when applying for grants.  Participants in the workshop also learned about the project planning, budgeting and resource allocation required for a successful grant application.

In the afternoon David explained the key sources of grant funding and the features of different grant programs.  The participants were also shown how to select the right grant for their particular project or organisation.  In addition to the excellent instruction on the day participants were supplied with comprehensive resources which will help them in finding funding.

Our special thanks go to Melissa and David for their time and effort both on the day and in preparation for this workshop.
