In January 2011, the people of Southern Sudan voted on the future
of their country. A landslide majority decided that a new nation

Southern Sudanese Australians were eligible to vote, and came
in their thousands to polling centres around the country. The
Humanitarian Crisis Hub and the Sudanese Lost Boys Association
of Australia formed a partnership that helped people cast the most
important vote of their lives.
